2010 Continue fitting out

Peter
My best mate Peter came along for 6 days to help with this panelling, it was great to have a work mate for a week and we got lots done. He brought his multi tool along for a trial and we used it to cut sockets and shapes out of the plywood.
Steel cutting
We needed the reciprocating saw to cut back some 3” angle iron that was sticking out too much. This was obstructing the panelling so had to come off. Then we covered any exposed metal with insulation to stop it dripping condensation on the woodwork.

The ceilings are 5.5mm ply fitted to the treated lathes, which are screwed to the treated 2” x 2”, which are riveted to the steel ribs and encased in fire rated spray foam. They are also all different shapes and sizes with slots cut out for the steel knees.

The arctic yellow wire is for the aft lighting circuit so this panel will come down again when we fit the light and junction box for it.

Panels
The boat looks so much bigger when it is floored and panelled. The panels will be primed and filled, paint can come later. We will make a triangular box for each steel knee as well. I am tempted to have highly varnished walls in the aft workshop but it wouldn't be so good for lighting. We'll see.

Pete couldn't stop himself from working so here he is vacuuming the grass alongside the boat!! Well, actually the circular saw made such a pile of wood chippings that we thought we should pick it up in case it killed the grass.

Next we move the boat to its summer berth and carry on the fit out....
